Password Protection Month: Three Keys to Keeping Your Information Safe
If there's one thing almost everyone can agree on, it's that creating passwords isn't much fun.
You carefully create a new password, type it in again to confirm it, only to discover you missed one of the requirements and have to start over. Then, the next time you try to log in, you've forgotten it, or the password has expired, and you get to repeat the entire process.
While coming up with strong passwords and keeping track of them can be frustrating, it's one of the most important steps you can take to protect your personal and financial information.
Over the years, major companies have experienced data breaches involving stolen login credentials. Cybercriminals continue to develop more sophisticated methods of obtaining passwords, making it increasingly important to follow strong security practices.
As part of Password Protection Month, we're sharing three simple ways to strengthen your online security.

The good news is that protecting yourself doesn't have to be complicated. Small changes can make a big difference:
• Create longer passwords or passphrases instead of relying on short, simple words. An example would be "pourmyselfacupofambition32*!".
• Consider using a password manager to generate and securely store unique passwords for all your accounts.
• Never reuse the same password across multiple websites or applications.
One additional tip: whenever possible, enable multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA adds an extra layer of protection by requiring a second form of verification, such as a text message code or authentication app, before access is granted.
The internet can be complicated, but protecting your accounts doesn't have to be. A few smart habits today can help reduce the risk of identity theft and unauthorized access tomorrow.
