Congratulations on your recent graduation from high school or to the family member who just finished their K-12 journey and will now be getting ready for their first year at college! The financial advisors at Egan, Berger & Weiner have put together a checklist for you to ensure you're prepared as a family for your child, grandchild, niece or nephew’s first year at college. Be sure to share this with the member of your family heading off to college in the fall of 2019!

□ Review all Assets Dedicated to Paying for College vs Cost of Tuition

□ Review FAFSA Options

□ Review Payment Options for Tuition/Room and Board (Federal Student Loans, Scholarships, Private Loans, 529 Plan, Retirement Accounts, Lines of Credit)

□ Create a Budget for all Spending for each Semester/Quarter at College

□ Decide if a Credit Card is a Good Idea

□ Speak to an Attorney about HIPAA, POA, Healthcare Directives

□ Review Car Insurance (Especially if Going to Out-of-State College)

□ Review Health Insurance to Make Sure Student is Covered Properly at School (Especially if the University is Out-of-State)

□ Review all of these items with your financial advisor
