It is with very mixed emotions that I write this tribute to one of our longest tenured staff members. While retirement is certainly a joyous life event and what we at EBW work so hard to help others achieve, I can’t help but feel a bit of melancholy when I imagine EBW without Idelis Favole. Today, I share the bittersweet news that Idelis will be retiring at the end of the year. Like many of you, Idelis’ face was the first one I saw when I walked into EBW’s office for the very first time. She made me feel welcome and instantly at ease, as I know she has done for many of you.
You may not know this, but Idelis was a client before she was an associate. Upon meeting her in 2006, Mike Egan knew he wanted Idelis on our staff. Her glowing personality, obvious organizational skills and focus on financial planning made her a natural fit for the vision of a growing EBW. As soon as the timing was right, Idelis was the first call Mike made. The rest, as they say, is history.
Sometimes, keeping everyone at EBW in line and moving in the right direction can be a bit of a challenge. As the partners focus on our clients, it’s often Idelis that keeps us focused on the day-to-day activities of running a business. With her patented combination of New Yorker direct, no-nonsense attitude and motherly compassion Idelis ensured the business ran smoothly. Lord help you when she breaks out the New York accent, then you KNOW you’ve really messed up. Whether it was cutting checks to vendors, processing payroll, negotiating contracts, or welcoming our clients, Idelis could do it all.
It is not an exaggeration to say that EBW would not be where it is today without Idelis’ many, many contributions, hard work and her commitment to our clients and to our firm. Idelis exemplifies everything a company looks for in an associate and we are so fortunate to have had her with us for all these years. I know that I speak for the entire EBW team in saying that Idelis will be greatly missed.
Idelis is looking forward to spending time with her boyfriend Eric, her children Christina and Michael and her grandchildren Sophia, Audrie and Ellie.
